We offer laminating pouches in two configurations:

- Heat Sealed, which requires a desktop laminator. These finished ID cards are more durable and have a longer life (months and years)

- Cold Sealed, which does NOT require any tools or equipment. Just place the printed insert between the plys, remove the silicone backer to expose the adhesive, and seal the pouch closed. These are intended for short term applications such as visitor badges, conventions, etc.

Pouches are used to laminate ID cards which are printed on a paper (natural and synthetic), which is then inserted between the two layers of the pouch.

The standard holographic pouch is holographic on one side; the backside is clear. We offer optional pouches with holographic graphics on both sides.

Heat Sealed Pouches

The heat-sealed lamination requires a heat laminator.

This type of pouch is more durable; thicker lamination film creates a more durable identification card.

The heat-seal adhesive provides some tamper evidence. Attempts to remove the lamination usually results in tearing or defacing of the paper ID insert.

Pouches with Stock Transparent Hologram Label

The stock hologram label is our “original authentic” image in a 1.625 inch circle, which is affixed to the inside of the pouch. The hologram is positioned in the center of the front panel with the text at a 45 degree (approximate) angle.

The stock pouches are a seamed construction with seam at top; material is 10 mils thick (4/6 material) on both sides. Custom Transparent Holographic Imprint Pouch

Custom holographic pouches are constructed with 10 mil thick material (4/6) using a transparent rainbow pattern for the imprint. Military and Credit Card size are typically "butterfly" construction. Larger sizes are typically "seamed" construction.

The transparent holographic foil imprint is more visible and diffracts more light when the insert is gloss paper or other coated stock. On matte inserts, the holographic imprint will resemble a watermark.

To make the hologram imprint more visible on a matte insert, apply a piece of clear tape on the insert directly under the location of the hologram before laminating, then heat seal the iamination.

Also, if the underlying color of the insert is a dark color (black is the best), the imprinted hologram will be more prominent.

Plain Pouches With Custom Imprinted Hologram Labels

Another method of achieving more security with lamination pouches is to use a plain lamination pouch with a custom imprinted hologram label. The hologram label is manually applied to the insert prior to laminating the pouch; using a custom imprinted hologram labels provides customized security. Using a plain lamination pouch is less than expensive than a holographic pouch. Overall, this is the most affordable method to get custom security using lamination pouches.
