NovaVision Announces Tamper-Evident Labels for Use on Pay-at-Pump Credit Card Terminals

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - November 30, 2010 - To protect consumers and retailers of gasoline, NovaVision Inc. has expanded their line of security labels designed to combat pay-at-the-pump credit card fraud. The expanded product line includes more security features, more label sizes and more colors.

Incidents of credit card skimming at gas stations have been widely reported throughout the United States. The typical skimming event requires opening the gas dispenser access panel to insert an electronic device that captures and transmits confidential data to the crooks. NovaVision's security labels are designed to indicate whether the access panel to the fuel dispenser has been opened. After NovaVision's tamper evident label has been applied, any attempt to remove the access panel will result in the words "OPENED" and "VOID" appearing on the label, indicating tampering has occurred.

According to NovaVision's general manager, Mike Messmer, "our security labels are proven-in-use with over four million tamper-evident labels shipped to date for use on retail gasoline dispensers. But we are continuing to expand this product line and add product features to assure that our security labels meet the needs of more customers." The new product line includes 4 colors: red, blue, black, & green.

  • An optional center perforation to make the label more sensitive to tampering
