For most medium and high security applications, we recommend the DTC525 or DTC525LC. These printers have the most security features for printing such as SMARTSHIELD, SMARTGUARD and Holographic Laminations. Having additional security features allows you to use multiple security features or vary the security features for different card groups or different years.
Key security features:
1. Laminations - the laminator allows the use of holographic overlays using the standard FARGO product or you can order a custom holographic overlay for added security. The laminator also allows the use of clear overlays. Both the clear overlay and holographic overlay improve the durability and life of the ID card.2. SMARTSHIELD - using this printer feature and ribbons with the overcoat (the O in YMCKO ribbons), you can print a custom transparent security image (text or logo) over the top of any card design. The security image fluoresces under ultraviolet (UV black) lighting and is also visible when viewed at an angle under normal lighting.
3. SMARTGUARD - restricts access to a printer/encoder by requiring a custom access card. The SmartGuard feature prevents unauthorized printing, ensures accountability for every card produced, and guards against unauthorized use of overlaminates.
